You Can't Get Better Without Having People Worth Getting Better For

My favorite superhero of all time is Captain America. To me, he truly personifies the words “Get Better”.

I was watching Captain America: Civil War the other day, and one thing that always has stood out to me is that Steve Rodgers’s friendship with Tony Stark seems irreparably damaged at the end of it. In the final scene though, Steve gives Tony a cell phone with one number on it, and the name on it says, Steve Rodgers. In a letter, Steve tells Tony “So no matter what I promise, if you need us, If you need me, we’ll be there.”

Steve had to take his own path in the end but wanted Tony to know that he will always have his back.

This stands out to me because it’s an ideology I have followed my whole life.

Family over everything, because nothing else matters. NOTHING!

Family is the most important thing you have, and I know I truly won the lotto by getting the best one of all. I was blessed with the greatest family ever, and they instilled the idea that you always have to be there for the ones you love.

The friends I would trust to be there for me in any situation I consider my family as well. I know off the top of my head, that if things got hard, who would show up to fight in my corner.

My Grandma passed away less than two months ago, and my Grandfather five months before that. My family showed strength I have never seen in my life. In one of her final nights, we had nine people sleep over in her hospital room. The hospital had never seen anything like it, but they didn’t know our family. We were there for each other, we have always been there for each other, and we always will be.

I had my other Grandparents and Aunt calling me constantly to make sure we were doing okay. They were there for us as well, like they always have been.

I think this is an important lesson to survive in this world. No matter what happens, and no matter who you are fighting with in your life, if you consider someone family and you love them, nothing should stop you from being there for them.

It’s also important to surround yourself with people who have the same belief. You should always want to succeed with those that you love, and I have tried to surround myself with people who make me a better person. The same type of people I know will have my back because they understand I will always have theirs.

I know I can say for myself, that I would drop everything going on in my life to be there for anyone of my family members. They are my life, they are simply my world, I would risk my life for any one of them.

I think you can learn a lesson from anything and anyone, but especially Captain America.

In closing I’ll say this “I promise, if you need us, if you need me, we’ll be there to make things Get Better."
